About PD2024 Conference

PROMETHEE Days 2024- An International Conference on Multi-criteria Approaches in Engineering, Applied Sciences and Management, organized by the Department of Technology, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

This prestigious conference focuses on advancing multi-criteria decision-making approaches. Savitribai Phule Pune University, established in 1949, is one of India’s premier educational institutions, known for its academic excellence and commitment to research across diverse fields. The Department of Technology at Savitribai Phule Pune University is at the forefront of innovation and education in Science, Engineering, and Technology. It provides a dynamic environment for learning and research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and technological advancements.

PROMETHEE, developed by Jean-Pierre Brans and Bertrand Mareschal in 1982, is a significant advancement in multi-criteria decision-making. Originating from the ULB and VUB universities in Brussels, PROMETHEE methods are part of the outranking methods pioneered by Professor Bernard Roy with the ELECTRE methods since 1968.

The PROMETHEE multi-criteria methods have been created by Prof. Jean-Pierre Brans (JPB) in 1982 along with Bertrand Mareschal. As of today, more than 4200 PROMETHEE-related papers have been published worldwide by more than 5600 authors, covering a wide area of methodological developments and applications. The first International conference devoted to the PROMETHEE methods was organized in January 2014 in Brussels by Prof. Cathy Macharis (VUB, Belgium). It was followed by a second conference organized in January 2015 by Prof. Yves De Smet (ULB, Belgium). The third conference was organized by Prof. Jean-Philippe Waaub (UQAM, Canada) in Montréal in May 2016. PROMETHEE Days 2017 was organized by Prof. Alessio Ishizaka as a stand-alone conference at the University of Portsmouth (UK). PROMETHEE Days 2018 was organized by Prof. Jason Papathanasiou (University of Macedonia, GR) in Heraklion (GR) in May 2018, together with the ICDSST 2018 meeting of the EWG-DSS (EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems).

PROMETHEE Days 2019 was organized by Prof. Niksa Jajac (University of Split) in Split, Croatia in May 2019. PROMETHEE Days 2020 was organized by Prof. Abdeslam Dahman Saïdi (Targa-AIDE, MA) in Rabat (MA) in June 2020. PROMETHEE Days 2021 was organized by Prof. Jason Papathanasiou (University of Macedonia, GR) in Thessaloniki (GR) in 2021. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the PROMETHEE Conference is making a comeback. This year, the PROMETHEE Days 2024 will be hosted by the Department of Technology at Savitribai Phule Pune University, taking place in December 2024.

JP Brans PROMETHEE Award (PA)

Professor Jean-Pierre Brans has been very enthusiastic with the idea of organizing PROMETHEE workshops from the early beginning in 2014. To encourage the development and use of the PROMETHEE methods it has been decided to set up a yearly award for the best paper presented at the PROMETHEE Days workshops/conferences. In the case of a PROMETHEE Days spin-off meeting, a second PA can be allocated for the best paper presented at the spin-off meeting, upon request from the organizers of the spin-off meeting and acceptance by the PC.

A PROMETHEE Foundation was created in 2014 to allow for the funding of the PA. The recipient of the JP Brans PROMETHEE Award (PA) is selected by a Jury at the end of the conference. Only papers actually and physically presented (excluding online presentation) at the conference by persons who are not members of the Jury are eligible. Invited papers are not eligible for the PA. Papers co-authored by a member of the Jury are not eligible for the PA. A total of 1000 Euros will be distributed to recognize the authors of the best papers in each category.
